Adcock Ingram is a leading South African pharmaceutical company. It is also the longest standing pharmaceutical company, with humble beginnings from a small pharmacy in Krugersdorp 116 years ago. The company has an extensive range of prescription, generic and OTC products and also provides life saving hospital equipment, diagnostic products and services.
To complement a full range of generics and prescription medicines across all therapeutic classes, Adcock Ingram recently launched a range of generic ARVs. These were developed in-house by a team of senior researchers at Adcock Ingram’s WHO approved Research site in Aeroton.

Prescription Brands
Doctors prescribe more Adcock Ingram products than any other company in South Africa. Leading brands include: Myprodol, Adco Simvastatin, Synap Forte, Adco Zolpidem, Zetomax, Remeron and Livifem. The company provides a comprehensive portfolio of branded and generic medicines in the following categories: Cardiovascular, Central Nervous System, Dermatology, Diabetes, Ear, Nose and Eye Preparations, Feminine Health and Analgesics
Over the Counter (OTC)
Adcock Ingram enjoys more than 50% market share, with every second OTC brand sold in SA an Adcock Ingram product. Adcock Ingram is also represented in every OTC therapeutic category. Many OTC brands are household names and include: Corenza C, Panado, Vita-thion, Compral, Adcodol, Bioplus, Syndol and Alcophyllex. Adcock Ingram leads in most of the therapeutic classes classified under OTC: Coughs, Cold and Flu, Analgesics, GIT and Energy.

Adcock Ingram Critical Care is South Africa’s largest supplier of hospital and Critical Care products, blood systems and accessories as well as products used for renal dialysis and transplant medication. Key relationships with innovators such as Baxter International afford Adcock Ingram the advantage of quality products for a growing market. Adcock Ingram’s plant in South Africa operates to Baxter’s standards.
