Adcock Ingram Social Responsibility prior to Unite 4 Health
Prior to the launch of Unite 4 Health, Adcock Ingram supported a number of programmes that ranged from health education initiatives through to sponsorships of capital projects such as the construction or refurbishment of homes for HIV-positive babies. Examples of projects include:
All Saints Hospital, Engcobo, Eastern Cape – The Adcock Ingram Children's Ward
In response to an initiative by President Mandela, a contribution of R1,3 million towards the construction and equipping of the Adcock Ingram Paediatric Ward at All Saints Hospital, Engcobo in a rural area in the Eastern Cape. The Adcock Ingram Paediatrics Ward was formally opened by Nelson Mandela.
University of the Western Cape – Adcock Ingram Pharmacy Practice Laboratory
Adcock Ingram sponsored the construction of this laboratory at a cost of R1,2 million. The laboratory has become the most frequently used facility in the School of Pharmacy.
In 2005 a further contribution was made to refurbish an area for post-graduate studies.
Mentor Programme for Rhodes University Pharmacy students
Adcock Ingram made a significant contribution to a mentor programme initiated at Rhodes University . The mentor programme aimed to facilitate socialisation of first year students to both the university and the pharmacy profession. It also provided development for the 2nd and 3rd year students who play the role of mentors. |
